Who publishes Four Spaces

The company is entered in the Paris Trade and Companies Register (RCS) under number 853 093 714 and its VAT number is FR77853093714. Axel Hars is the publication director.

Where the pages are served from

The static pages and the in-browser style checker are hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA.

How we write about Python style

Statements about PEP 8, PEP 257 or PEP 484 are checked against the PEP texts on peps.python.org; statements about pycodestyle, flake8, pylint, black or ruff against the documentation of the version named in the article. Code examples are run before publication. Four Spaces does not review private codebases, sell consulting or licences, and has no reason to favour one linter over another.

Code, text and pictures

The articles and the checker's JavaScript were written for Four Spaces; the names of Python projects and tools belong to their owners. Every photograph is a public-domain or CC0 work, listed with its source on the photo credits page.

Not the old PEP8 online

Four Spaces is an independent publication. It is not affiliated with the original "PEP8 online" checker that used this domain, nor with the Python Software Foundation or the PyCQA.
